Dan Moore, better known as “Yukon Dan”, is a professional gold panner who spent many years in the wilds of the Yukon perfecting the craft of gold panning!

It’s from these experiences that he has developed this unique, hands-on presentation about gold panning. He teaches his award-winning style and techniques to students while offering a glimpse of what it took to be a successful panner in the heady days of the gold rush! Workshops include a gold panning station where they’ll pan for real gold, a session on learning how to separate minerals with a magnet made of fools gold and a word search about mining terminology. Also on display will be Dan’s extensive collection of gold related items such as pans, real gold nuggets and flakes, rare coins, and minerals such as silver, quartz, copper, platinum, and fools gold!

Yukon Dan was the silver medalist for Canada’s National Team at the 1998 World Gold Panning Championships held in Coloma, California.
