Promoting Agriculture Through Education & Community Networking Since 1912
The Aldergrove Festival Days Society (AFDS), incorporated in 1984, is a non-profit society run by volunteers that fosters community pride within Aldergrove and promotes Aldergrove to its neighboring communities.
As an umbrella organization, AFDS is dedicated to bringing together citizens, community groups, service clubs, and organizations to put on Aldergrove Fair Days, the Fair Days Parade, and the Christmas Light Up Parade in December.
The Aldergrove Agricultural Association coordinates the agricultural side of Aldergrove’s annual Fair Days. Activities include:
- presentation of the Century Award during the annual Fair
- educational exhibits on agricultural activities and products
- demonstrations and talks
- children’s activities
- prize exhibiting – garden, homemaking, and craft contests for categories ranging from asparagus to zucchinis, and from playdough to photography
See Prize Exhibits for information on entering your agricultural exhibit in this year’s Fair.
AFDS owns the Coghlan Community Hall, which is used to host AFDS meetings and generate income through rental of the hall. Coghlan Hall has been used as a site for many movie and TV shoots.
AFDS invites everyone to attend monthly meetings, held at either the Coghlan Hall or another Aldergrove location. The AGM is held in October. Annual membership dues are $5. AFDS is a friendly group of people, always welcoming new members.
Over 150 volunteers are needed to help organize and participate in the Association’s events. Our Fair and Parades would not be possible without the support of community groups, businesses and private citizens.
