On Saturday December 12, 2020, during an amazing event, the Aldergrove Food and Toy Drive raised over $42,400 in food items, cash, toys, and gift cards. The PRICELESS amount of food donated has left the Aldergrove Food Bank’s shelves and storage room overflowing!
Co-hosted by the Aldergrove Fair and the Royal Canadian Legion (Aldergrove 265 Branch), the Aldergrove Food Bank received cash and gift cards worth over $4,000. The Aldergrove Elks donated $1,100 in gift cards; WalMart donated 66 $25 gift cards for kids who frequent the food bank; Quiring Towing and Recovery donated $1,000 in gift cards; Al and Nancy Quiring donated $1,000 in gift cards; and Save On Foods donated $250.
The Aldergrove Elks donated an additional $1,000 in gift cards to Constable Phil Colter of the Aldergrove Community Police Office to hand out to the community, and $500 in gift cards and toques to Cathy Gracie, Principal of Parkside Centennial Elementary School and Lindsay Romas of Shortreed Community Elementary School.
There were four and a half vanloads of food gathered at the event, in addition to donations dropped of during the day at the Aldergrove Food bank location.
